The formal signing of the engagement between ShipFinex and BCG was held at the BCG Dubai office on 18th December, symbolizing a new era in Maritime finance. This strategic engagement is set to unlock new possibilities in the field of Real World Asset (RWA) tokenization, particularly in the maritime sector.
With a vision to democratize ship ownership and make it accessible to a broader market, ShipFinex has been at the forefront of integrating blockchain technology into the maritime industry. The engagement with BCG aims to leverage their unparalleled strategic insights and innovative solutions to clarify avenues of growth for Shipfinex.
Real World Asset Tokenization
According to a report from BCG and ADDX, asset tokenization is projected to reach a staggering $16 trillion by 2030, which would represent approximately 10% of the global GDP BCG recognizes the immense potential of RWA, especially in maritime assets. Shipfinex’s approach not only democratizes asset ownership but also injects unprecedented liquidity into the market.
Statements
Chairman of the Shipfinex board, Mr. Tony Dagher, expressed his enthusiasm: "Our vision at ShipFinex is to unlock the massive untapped potential in maritime asset ownership. This strategic engagement is a catalyst for realizing that vision, bringing innovative solutions to a strategic and traditionally exclusive industry."
Echoing these sentiments, Shipfinex Founder & CEO, Capt. Vikas Pandey added, "BCG's strategic guidance will be invaluable, as Shipfinex continues to break new ground and offer opportunities to own assets in the maritime industry. We received a strong positive & encouraging response from the market and we are confident of expanding this business model steadily."
Representatives from BCG shared their insights on the strategic engagement. Dr. Bernhard Kronfellner, Partner & AD of BCG on web3 topics, emphasized: “The tokenization of traditionally exclusive assets, such as vessels, illustrates how emerging technologies are making the financial world more accessible. Soon, individuals will have the opportunity to acquire portions of ships, even enabling them to impact the industry's environmental footprint by directing their financial contributions towards more sustainable choices.”
Michael Sonderby, Managing Director and Partner at BCG X, shared: “Digitization of the maritime and logistics industry is accelerating and the impact both operationally and commercially is well proven with many industry leaders successfully scaling digital products, e.g. Maersk with Twill Logistics (now Maersk Go) and UPS with Ware2Go. This is providing a fertile ground for new and innovative technologies and business models. Blockchain is a technology that can truly transform the industry for the better.”
